The constant stream of positive updates can create the impression that everyone is constantly climbing the ladder of success. However, we often forget that it is just as important to celebrate the small victories and progress we make in our own lives. How?
Let’s celebrate the little wins! (stock image)
đ Embrace where you are in your journey: It’s important to acknowledge and accept where we are in our careers and even in our personal lives. How else will we learn acceptance and plan the future?
đ Celebrate small wins: Every step of progress is worth celebrating, no matter how small. Went to the workplace even when you don’t feel like leaving the bed? You are a hero!
đ Focus on personal growth: Instead of comparing ourselves to others, we should focus on our own growth and development. Enough of making someone else our priority.
đ Don’t be afraid to ask for help: Seeking guidance and support from others can help us navigate our professional journey. There are good and helpful people around. A few, but yes, they are there.
đ Embrace the journey, not just the destination: Enjoying the journey and not just focusing on the end goal is essential. How else will we identify who genuinely cares and cheers for us?
Let’s celebrate the tiny wins, big or small because every day is a chance to be grateful for the joy of little things! What are you celebrating today?
âRadhika, you are getting married to our son. Heâs just so handsome. We wanted to find someone perfect for himâbut youâre his choice. We can compromise with your looks; can you get your teeth pushed back in?â
Scene 2
âRitu, whatâs with that extra incisor? Why donât you get it removed? I hope thatâs not hereditary! We wonât want our grandchildren have similar teeth issues and keep running to dentists!â
Scene 3
âPreeti, why donât you hide your teeth when you laugh? Your one teeth is dark. Yeah we know its because of some accident and crap you faced in your childhoodâbut that doesnât look good, you know? You got to have some limits to your laugh!â
Scene 4
âAna, we got to talk something. Had we fixed this marriage; we would have got a perfect bride for our perfect son. Anyway, the first time we saw your photograph, we had decided that we need to get your one non-aligned tooth corrected. Now that youâre already here and our dream of having a perfect daughter in law is in vainâall we could do was to get you an appointment from a dentist. So, hereâs the contact. The dentist said that it wonât take more than 2 years to get alignment if you get braces. You can even try crowning but youâre smile sucks. Get braces and get a perfect smile at least. Thatâs the least you can do for us, right?â
âI am sorry, what? Thereâs no way I am getting braces. I like myself the way I am. Your son likes me the way I am. Are you serious? Why did you even agree for this marriage if you had an issue with my non-aligned tooth?â
âWell, we are amused how our son even fell for you! Also, who doesnât want to look good, right? Whatâs the big deal even if you get your teeth aligned? Itâs a matter of just two years!â
âNope. I like my smile the way it is. I specially like my non-aligned tooth. And itâs my fatherâs favourite. Thereâs no way I am changing my smile.â
âThen avoid laughing and smiling showing your teeth off!â
âWell, thereâs no reason in this house anyway to smile, right? Also, you know what, I read a quoteâ âThe evillest person is the one who makes negative comments on someoneâs smile. Why would you like to take away something from a person which brings happiness?â I guess someone else needs some brain alignment, right?’
Scene 2: Itâs Riddhiâs first birthday after marriage. However, Riddhi and Raunak have been arguing a lot recently because Raunk has been way to busy in workâtaking frequent work tours every week. However, during the last tour, he got a branded handbag for Riddhiâa giftâwhich he joked about being the âbirthday giftâ for Riddhiâs upcoming birthday next month. Ironically, he had brought the same âspecial birthday handbagâ for all the other females in his house too. Raunak took Riddhi for dinner on her birthday evening. At midnight she cut the cakeâwhile Raunak while highly disinterested. This made Riddhi upset.
âWhy are you upset, Riddhi? Doesnât this cake and decoration make any difference to you?â
âWe donât even talk anymore, Raunak. I donât like it this way!â
âWow. I guess you will find solace only when I resign my job, wonât you?â
And Raunak left Riddhi crying right after the cake cutting, at midnight, alone at home and went out for a walk. He came back later that night, didnât say a word and slept off. Next day, on Riddhiâs birthday, both went to work and didnât say a word to each other. However, Raunak asked Riddhi for dining out at night.
âReally? Of course, Raunak. I would love to!â
âYeah but letâs just get this done quickly. I have some pending office work.â
âUmmm⊠Well, then you continue with your work, let us instead order some food. I will also call some of my friendsâI couldnât speak to them when they called me to wish in the morning.â
âWhat is wrong with you? You should be grateful that at least I am taking you out. Youâre hopeless and just wonât ever understand the efforts I make, would you, Riddhi?â
Anyway, they ate in silence and returned. Riddhi went in another room to change her clothes, but even before she returned, Raunak had slept off.
âWake up, Raunak. Donât you have to work?â
âYeah, I do. But I will wake up at 2 AM.â
âBut you can stay up with me at least? Its my birthday⊠We didnât speak all dayâŠâ
âNo I am tired. I am sleeping.â
Scene 3: Raunakâs motherâRiddhiâs mother in law had come to their place. Raunak took a special leave from his work to take her mom out for shopping and buy her gifts. His momâs birthday was due in two weeks. Before her birthday, Riddhi also got the gifts of his momâs choice. Raunak celebrated his momâs birthday lavishly. He also planned a surprise party for her. His mom loved the gifts. Everyone was happy. Later that nightâŠ

âThank you, Riddhi. Had it not been for you, I would not have been able to get any gifts for my mom.â
âOh, its okay Raunak. Sheâs my mom too. And its good that you bought her gifts two weeks ago.â
âYeah, though that canât be considered birthday gift, right? Birthdays have to be special. After all, it was my momâs first ever birthday when sheâs not at home. It had to be special. Happy. A day which she enjoys. What else does a birthday girl needs, right?â
Riddhi was amused and gave a question-mark look to Raunak, as if sheâs asking himââWhat happened on my first birthday away from my family then?â And yet, Raunak did understand what her eyes said, so he just turned his face and pretended to sleep.
